Positive is that it's being renovated. Be forewarned that this can add to traffic and congestion during peak travel times. When arriving get picked up at departures, it's can be faster. Overall, for one of the largest and wealthiest cities on earth, this airport is a dump. It suffers from menial cleanup efforts, a lack of sanitation and maintenance management, backed up flights, overflow of vehicle and air traffic, and its more of a third world airport. It's sad. It's sad because this is America. It's hard to realize where the money goes from the taxpayers in this city at times - it's sure isn't to keep it clean and beautify it. Hopefully, once the reno is complete, it will be in better shape with more effective airport and airline staff/management.

A very easy airport to navigate. Prices for food are high, but it NYC, what do you want? There are some croissant at the Cibo stores that are only $3-$3.50 that are really good.
