Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, one of the most spectacular natural resources in Hawaii, is reaping the benefits of over a decade of moves to re-establish its pristine marine ecosystem. Recognizing the damage done by years of neglect and abuse by allowing some three million visitors annually, the City and County of Honolulu in 1990 laid out a plan to restore Hanauma to a clean, healthy state by reducing the number of visitors, establishing an education program, and instituting supportive restrictions.

Probably the most popular snorkelling destination on the island as the coral rocks are inhabited with rich variety of fish.

Absolutely breathtaking views, there is a lot of diverse and beautiful marine life to swim around with. Clean, beautiful, and memorable. If you arrive before 7 you get free parking and free admission, and get to skip the movie they show you. You also beat most of the crowds. Water shoes are a must, and an underwater camera is highly recommended!

Best place to go snorkeling, hands down. It's a safe and clean area, and everyone knows not to disturb the marine life there, so all the fish are comfortable being up close to people! It's like swimming in an aquarium tank. I highly recommend going in the morning before the waters get too crowded with people.

The best place to go snorkeling ever. Very well maintained and staff are great and very educational. Lots to do even if you don't snorkel. The movie you watch before you enter the park is very educational. It does get crowded lots of tourist and parking is limited so get there very early.
