We went hiking to the Makapu'u point lighthouse and were famished when we got back to out car. We thought our only options were to drive to Waimanalo or to Honolulu, but the wife remembered seeing a sign for a restaurant at a nearby golf course. We drove to the Hawaii Kai golf course and were pleased that the restaurant was open and did not require club membership. The atmosphere was low-key and the service was unsurpassed. Our waiter, Tommy, kept our water glasses full and advised us on what was the best on the menu. We had the salmon and a teriyaki burger. Both were delivered quickly. The quality of the food was far higher than we were expecting, everything tasted wonderful and the quantity was filling. The amazing part of the whole experience was the price, our will would have easily been triple what it was if we ate the same dishes in Waikiki. The value to cost ratio here is through the roof! There were very few people there when we went, which I thought was odd, since all of the local trailheads were packed and the Kalanianaole highway was very busy. I can only think that people don't know about this fantastic place to eat nestled below Koko Crater between Honolulu and Waimanalo. Now that you know about it, go and try it yourself!
