Hapuna Beach State Park

Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area is a large park and sandy beach on the Big Island of Hawaii.This is one of a few other white sand beaches on the west coast of the Big Island.It was named the Best Beach in America by Florida International University professor Stephen Leatherman, known as "Dr Beach", in 1993.



Landscaped beach park with swimming during calm seas, bodysurfing during periods of shore breaks, sunbathing and other beach-related activities, picnicking and shelter lodging opportunities. Dangerous rip currents and pounding shore breaks during periods of high surf! Waves over 3 feet high are for experts--all other should stay out of the water and away from the shoreline!
