Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles

Don't be put off by the name of this casual eatery, which honors a late-night combo popularized in Harlem jazz clubs. Roscoe's is the place for down-home Southern cooking. Just ask the patrons, who drive from all over L.A. for Roscoe's bargain-price fried chicken, wonderful waffles (which indeed turn out to be a great partner for fried chicken), buttery chicken livers, and toothsome grits. Although Roscoe's has the intimate feel of a smoky jazz club, those musicians hanging out here are just taking five.

The wait wasn't extensive, approximately 10 min. Really enjoyed the chicken links. They do run out of items on the menu. So you may have to enjoy what's available as opposed to your personal favorite. However they did actually get us some chicken although we were initially told they were sold out.

Best chicken and waffles I have ever had!...well the only I've ever had, but man was it amazing (as a person that has had chicken, waffles, and eggs separately. I got the Obama special. We enjoyed it so much during vacation we are here twice. Crispy wings, soft waffles (Day one I had the regular, day 2 I had the buckwheat waffle. I actually liked it even more than the regular), scrambled cheesy eggs (in my pic they look oddly wet, but taste just fine. Quick service and waitstaff was standard. No rude servers.

I am so disgusted by the dangerously undercooked, bloody chicken that I was served at the Roscoe's in Hollywood. This is unacceptable and unsafe! I ordered 2 thighs and some sides. The first thigh was undercooked but I just ate around it thinking it might just be an issue with that piece. When I got to the second thigh it was bloody! I called immediately to ask for a refund and dealt with Ebony. Ebony claimed to be the manager and refused to help me. She let me know that in order to receive a refund, I would have to go back to the restaurant with the uneaten food as proof. I was annoyed that I would have to make a second trip just so they could verify that I had received inedible chicken. I asked for another option, and she rudely referred me to their "Corporate HR Services." I asked who I would be speaking to and she simply stated, "I don't know." I decided to make the trip back to the restaurant, where I talked to the actual Manager, but he was even less helpful than Ebony. He stated that because I had eaten some of the meal I was only entitled to a $7 refund, the total cost of the meal was $18. I left with my bloody chicken and no refund. I'm incredibly frustrated by their customer service and will not be returning. Be careful eating here.

My second time to Roscoe's which will be my last time. Very disappointed. The potatoes with the gravy I could not believe it, the chunks of potatoes was half the size of my hand it was about four or five of them in a bowl with a bunch of gravy, that had no seasoning whatsoever, tastes like paste. My friend asked for wheat bread they sent her a biscuit, by the time she got her wheat bread the busboy had already cleaned off the table and the waitress just set the bread on the table as if she was supposed to eat the bread by itself. Then she had nerves to offer us two Iced Teas to go, which it was already free refill, so what are you giving me. It took the Holy Spirit inside of me not to slap her. So all I could do was smile and say thank you. Trust and believe me....it was the God in Me. And the only reason I gave it to Stars was because my eggs and my chicken was good.
