BEWARE! I was looking at the Grand Coral for possible investment here in Playa Del Carmen when a friend of mine told me he had basically been harassed in some way by the security there during a previous stay. Since that time, I had a particularly bad experience where money was missing from my belongings on the beach. I watched a staff member of the restaurant come out and grab my belongings and throw them on a nearby table, dropping my car keys in the sand while moving those items. I discovered afterwards that my money in pesos was missing from my shirt pocket. I was standing nearby under a tree so I could identify the person but when I approached the restaurant manager , he suggested I was not telling the truth and that I must have lost the money. He offered to buy me a beer and was totally dismissive and disrespectful. I proceeded to my car to leave and three security guards had surrounded my car and they were photographing my license plate. Needless to say as a senior woman alone , I was quite uncomfortable . Their demeanor was aggressive and they used language which was demeaning to me and they continued to photograph me as I drove away. I contacted the Company Grand Coral but to date they have not returned a phone call or attempted to speak to me any further about this situation. I strongly urge anyone who goes to this beach club to keep your money secured and I would suggest you do not go alone. As a real estate investor I would further advise that you DO SERIOUS DUE DILIGENCE and visit this property, including the beach area prior to considering an investment here. I've traveled all over the world and this situation was one that was one of the most frightening and disturbing I've encountered as a female traveling alone. I vehemently suggest this is a potentially dangerous and unwelcoming place.

Great beach location, publicly accessible. Drinks are pretty good. Has a pool and beach lounge chairs for use by patrons. That was the good part. Food is mediocre, service is not so great. It takes forever to get the waiters attention and they forget half of what you order. WiFi is free, but doesn't work so I ended up using my 4g connection. Overall location is great, the service sucks. Next time I will just get a drink from the bat directly and use the facilities.
