It is one of the halls of the University of Dhaka and it was named after Lord Curzon who was famous for his good deeds during the British Bangla. After the establishment of the University of Dhaka in 1921, the red coloured hall which is situated nearby the famous Mir Jumla Gate (Dhaka Gate), was named after the good man Curzon.

There are more than 60 types of trees here. There is a botanical garden for the students of dept. of botany which is not open for all.During the period of Lord Curzon the building was established for administrative work. Later it has been used for academic building of University of Dhaka.

The most beautiful structure among the Educational contracts in Bangladesh is Curzon Hall which was named after the name of Lord Curzon. From the beginning of its introduction as a part of the university, the Curzon hall is used as symbol of Dhaka University. People from the home and outside comes to visit this place. Nowadays only few science departments are situated here and most of them are connected with this place because of Curzon’s historical value and pride of prestige. Originally the building were constructed to be a town-hall of Dhaka. Though the name is “hall” but it is not a residential hall.
