Juliaca is a city in the San Román province of southern Peru. A busy transit hub, it's a jumping-off point for Lake Titicaca, the vast Andean lake marked by Inca ruins and floating villages. In the central Plaza Bolognesi, vendors at the Galería Artesanal Las Calceteras market sell handicrafts and wool products. Churches include Templo de la Merced on the plaza and Iglesia Matriz de Santa Catalina to the northwest.
