Chimbote is a port city in the Ancash region of northern Peru. It’s known for its fish factories and as a regional transit hub. The grand Catedral Nuestra Señora del Carmen y San Pedro Apóstol features elaborate religious art. Nearby, the Malecón sea wall faces Isla Blanca, an uninhabited, white islet accessible by boat. The city is a starting point for the road to Huaraz via the Cañón del Pato's mountain tunnels.
