It is well known for its stunning views and elegant architecture. It has been visited by numerous artists and writers over the centuries due to its incredible beauty that makes it a favorite destination.
Its walls are in the form of towers and its streets are narrow, twisting and covered with steps. The town is also home to many well-preserved medieval buildings protected by UNESCO, including the Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall) which was originally built in the 13th century and later reconstructed in Gothic style with an extravagant Baroque façade.
