Hawkbus Travel Your friendly guide will pick you up at the Hotel or at your cruise ship and you can choose your own pickup time. Thingvellir: We’ll encounter the birth place of the icelandic nation. And there is also where the huge tectonic plates of America and Eurasia are slowly drifting apart. Containing the site of the former parliament of Iceland, Thingvellir National Park serves as a historical landmark set in a beautiful landscape. The national park was founded in 1930 to protect the former parliament, which dates to 930 CE, as well as the natural land surrounding it. Explore the park’s highlights, including the largest natural lake in the country. The park has facilities for hiking, camping, and even scuba diving in Silfra Lake. Geysir: The hot spring region, which is the home of the original geyser and one of the Iceland’s most famous natural attractions. There is also a spouting hot spring called Strokkur erupts regularly or every 3-8 minutes. Gullfoss: Is another place of the visits during the Golden Circle. Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall) is an iconic waterfall of Iceland offering a spectacular view of the forces and beauty of untouched nature. Gullfoss located in South Iceland on the Hvítá (White) River which is fed by Iceland´s second biggest glacier, the Langjökull. The water plummets down 32 meters in two stages into a rugged canyon which walls reach up to 70 meters in height. On a sunny day, a shimmering rainbow can be seen over the falls. Faxi: Is also part of the Colden Circle Faxi is a small but broad waterfall along the Tungufljót in an area of large, flat farmlands where one would not otherwise assume there to be waterfalls. Here the river stretches to a width of about 300 feet and plunges in a broad fall of 22 feet in height. We also try to stop on the way to see some of the famously friendly Icelandic horses. The Icelandic horse is a unique breed of smallish horses that came to Iceland with the first settlers from Norway 1100 years ago.
