Listen to story telling of our Ancestors, watch our cultural dancing and join in to become part of the South African Tribe. Lesedi – The Place of Light – is a multi-cultural African village, an hour’s drive from Pretoria and Johannesburg. Here, through different mock villages, you will be introduced to 5 of the rural ethnic groups of South Africa whose traditional cultural practices are theatrically re-enacted. These are the Zulu, Pedi, amaNdebele, Xhosa and Sotho. There are 2 shows a day at either 11.30 or 16.30. Enjoy traditional singing and dancing in the boma. You can stay for lunch or dinner after the show and dancing and enjoy a traditional meal.

Lesedi Cultural Village
Lesedi Cultural Village is one of the best tourist attractions in South Africa, allowing visitors to really explore the glorious diversity of the people of this land.
Set amid rocky hills and bushveld less than one hour’s drive from Johannesburg, and on the way to Sun City, Lesedi Cultural Village offers visitors a chance to encounter people of Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Ndebele and Basotho origin.
Each of these families lives here permanently, looking after cows, chickens and tourists, and tours through their homes offer interesting cross-cultural comparisons of the customs and social organization of the different cultures. If you're staying overnight, you are welcomed by the family of the homestead in which you will be staying, and the head of the house then becomes your personal guide for the duration of your stay.
You’ll meet real people (not actors in fancy dress), enter their homes and listen to stories about their individual cultures and rituals of daily life.
Duration: 2 hours
