Arema Blue VIllage As you are on a kampong tour to fully experience local Malang city life you will pass all kinds of local neighborhoods. You'll get a better understanding of how locals live, how they make it through the day and what they do or can do for a living as life in Indonesia comes without any certainties besides the certainty that you will have to take care of yourself. See how local businesses keep on running, understand daily activities in a Malang-neighborhood, visit an elementary schools, sniff on the difficulties locals experience, experience loads of culture that is an interwoven mix of customs and habits on the one hand and faith on the other, witness the living conditions of both poor and those who are more lucky. Thus, you aren't getting that easily to Kampong Biru, another name for Arema Blue Village. You will visit 2 other kampongs first as well as the local market Klojen, Malang's food market in front of the train station, the train station itself and Malang's place to be to get yourself a new helmet. Kampong Biru is an upgraded kampong. It is a relaxed and clean neighborhood. Friendly people and great street art. The blue colour is a homage to Malang's football club Arema. Micro-business is being developed, such as juggling dry waste into ready-made materials; flower vases, table decorations, and women's accessories.

Kampong Jodipan, also called Kampong Warna-Warni, is opposite the blue kampong and across the bridge. The houses in Jodipan are all coloured differently. Street art is great. Small business arose after the opening of this colourful kampong. Compared to Kampong Biru, Jodipan is often visited by tourists. The glass bridge over the river Brantas is a major spot... You get a different vibe compared to the vibe in the Blue village.

Eng An Kiong Temple To reach this temple you will walk near the railway and see the activities near the railway while passing several kampongs as well. The word ‘klenteng’ is derived from the sound of a bell ‘teng teng teng’. Eng An Kiong temple embraces the three faiths "Ji" (Konghucu), "Sik" (Budhism), and "Too" (Taoism). Therefore it is also referred to as the Three teachings temple. Klenteng Eng An Kiong is part of Malang's history and open to visitors. Located right in the heart of economic activities and in the Chinese area, the Chinese temple Eng An Kiong is a unique destination.

Pasar Besar Malang's big market is a bustling area in Malang's newly named China town, but still one of the oldest and finest areas in Malang city. Dive in local life and business. Try all kinds of food, and bargain if you would like to buy something....

Malang City Square Then, via Embong Arab, or the Arab kampong with Arab people, you will be heading to Malang's city square. Malang's city square dates back as far as 1887. The old trees are as old as the square. Traditionally several buildings were constructed at the town square, including the administrative building, a jail (but the jail has been moved), several religious buildings and banks. One still can find several heritage buildings at Malang's town square. As the park was renovated a few years ago, it now is also a great place to spend a part of the day. To just see, relax, have a picnic, and to enjoy.

Toko Oen is a concept, not only in Malang but in Central and East Java. From origine it is a Chinese owned restaurant serving traditional Dutch food. Toko Oen Malang was opened in 1930 and both interior and exterior have never been changed. One still can order traditional Dutch food, but of course, through the years, the original taste has vaporized. Take a look inside, have a short rest if you like.

Birds and Flower Market Malang Though the bird and flower market is not everybody's favourite it is a living tradition in Javanese society. Indeed, one doesn't see too many birds in Java's city street life as the free birds that can sing and have wonderful colours are captured to sell. You also will visit the ELEMENTARY SCHOOL next to the bird and flower market. Children are amazing creatures, you probably will learn something from them at almost the end of your tour. Then, the tour ends opposite the AHMAD YANI MOSQUE at one of Malang's finest GADO-GADO FOOD STALLs.
