What To Expect

In the heart of the medina of Marrakech, you will be invited to meet a Maâlem who masters the traditional Zouaq art.
A Maâlem is literally “the one who knows”, a master of crafts or art, and this honorary title is given to those judged to pass on their know-how.

The art of painting Zouaq is a technique native to Morocco that is painted on ceilings, doors, furniture and wooden objects, intrinsic to the decoration of sacred spaces and private homes, such as the Bahia Palace in Marrakech.

You can choose your rack from various wooden objects: a tray, a mirror, a jewelry chest, a hand of Fatma.

Following your selection, you will be invited to let your imagination run wild by combining traditional Berber patterns with all the paint colors available to you.
Your Maâlem will always be by your side to pass on his precious advice.

At the end of the workshop, you will not only leave with your beautifully decorated object whose memories of each encounter will feed your thoughts for a long time
