A popular daytime destination, Bo-Kaap is one as one of Cape Town’s most historically rich neighbourhoods. Colourful Bo-Kaap has a fascinating history and a unique culture. Tucked away under the slopes of Signal Hill, this suburb formerly known as the Malay Quarter, is a bright and vibrant neighbourhood with a rich Cape Malay culture. Visitors can take memorable pictures with the colourful houses as a backdrop , and get to explore the Islamic “kramats” (shrines), mosques and food and craft markets, and discover the delicious Cape Malay cooking.
