The city is also known for its white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano.

Volterra
Volterra:
Volterra is a fortified mountain city whose origins date back to the ancient Etruscans. The city was protected by a four-mile-long wall. Walking through its medieval streets you will find craft shops with jewellery, bronze and of course alabaster works, which have been made in Volterra since Etruscan times. Volterra's main square, Piazza dei Priori, is dominated by the Palazzo dei Priori (Town Hall). Don't miss the chance to see the Roman theater and the Etruscan Museum, full of precious artefacts dating back to centuries before Christ.
