What To Expect

You will hike at the famous Samaria Gorge with the guidance of a very experienced guide.
You can use rental car or public bus
Starting from the northern entrance "Xyloskalo", at an altitude of 1100m, you will reach the sea-side village of Agia Roumeli, in the South Cretan Sea, walking a downhill rocky route of 16km

Passing through pine forests and crossing the river on wooden bridges will be just the beginning. Your hike will be full of stunning rock formations that pop up at every turn and a visit to the old abandoned village of Samaria, midway through the distance will tell you about the way of life people had there.
The trail will take us to the exit of the gorge at the village of Agia Roumeli by the sea, for a very refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of southern Crete!
Agia Roumeli is a beautiful little village that can only be reached by boat or by walking along the trail of the Samaria Gorge. There are no roads to go from there and the last and only boat leaves at 17:30
At the end of the hike, your guide will help you issue your ferry tickets and give you all the instructions you need to travel back by public bus to Xyloskalo (to get your car) or to your hotel.
