Originally, 12th Cen Kakatiya Fort of Hindu rulers is 12 kms from city. Clap
while you nap at the entrance. Fascinating views from Baradari (400 ft) plains
and royal necropolis. The outer wall is 8 kms with 87 semi-circular bastions
and 8 gates. In 1687 it fell to the marching Aurangzeb by means of treachery,
latter used a prison by Nizams. Fabled treasure like Koh-i-noor is looted. Huge
blocks of cut stone butting onto natural outcrops of granite, with several
buildings for living, treasury, harems, mosques, baghs, baths and
barracks. Royal Necropolis are located, North west of the fort, out through
Banjara Gate. Mostly from QUTUB Shahi period, large tombs have their own
mosques. Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah and Kulsum Begum Tombs are worth
visiting. The sound and light show inside the fort is the best in India.

Golconda Fort
Situated west of Hyderabad, Golkonda Fort is like a tiny kingdom in itself. Colossal stone walls, rusted gates and ruins, reveal secrets of the Golkonda Fort, its grandeur and a bygone era. It was once a city of diamond trade and hence some brilliant gems like the koh-i-Noor and the Darya-i-Noor were excavated from the mines around Golkonda.
