The valley has long been the home of attractive colonial towns, isolated weaving villages, handicraft markets and lofty 10th and 11th century Inca Citadels of Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Urubamba. Visiting the Salt Mines and Moray terraces, which were made by building containment walls filled with fertile earth. They were watered through a complex irrigation system. At the base of the terraces, there is a rainwater storage system. The entire system allowed for the cultivation of the Incas to grow over 250 types of vegetables.

Itinerary

Sacred Valley of the Incas

Iglesia Colonial de Chinchero The tour starts with the group pick-up at 6:30 am, and we'll head to our first destination to visit Chinchero, where we'll explore its traditional market and archaeological center. There, we'll be able to observe the impressive Inca architecture, the farming areas, and admire the incredible agricultural terraces. We'll spend around 1 hour exploring this Inca citadel.

Moray Next, we'll visit the archaeological site of Moray, also known as "The Inca Greenhouses." It consists of an evolutionary bowl of ecological terraces, which were carved into an enormous basin excavated by the Incas for agricultural purposes. The terraces have varied microclimates depending on the depth of the basin. It's believed that the Incas used them to discover the ideal growth conditions for their different crops. We'll also visit the salt mines known as "Salineras de Maras." This place was of great importance in the PRE INKA - INKA - COLONIAL era and still is today. The town's inhabitants benefit from the salt extracted from these mines.

Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo We'll continue our tour by heading to the town of Urubamba, where we'll have a delicious buffet lunch. Finally, we'll arrive in Ollantaytambo, where we'll have time to explore the ancient and bustling Inca village along with the enormous Inca ruins, with a tour provided by our guide. Then, we'll take the train to Aguas Calientes, where we'll spend the night in a hotel.

Machupicchu

Machupicchu cusco Starting with excitement on your last day, we will take the bus to the Machu Picchu archaeological site and arrive for the guided tour, making sure to explore every corner of this World Heritage Site. During your private 2.5-hour tour, your guide will lead you through the ruins and its various main streets. Afterwards, you can explore the plazas of the spiritual center of esoteric wisdom on your own, and climb the intricately carved stone stairs to the top. When you are ready, you will descend to Aguas Calientes, have lunch on your own, and then board the 14:55 train for the return journey to the Ollantaytambo train station, where you will enter our private transportation for your return to Cusco city and directly to your hotel.
