Around the oldest university in Germany, you will encounter traces of prominent residents and guests of Heidelberg, such as Martin Luther, at every turn. The Luther plaque on Universitätsplatz commemorates his famous Heidelberg disputation in 1518.

Of course, the largest and most important church in Heidelberg, the Heiliggeistkirche, should not be missing.

Old Bridge (Karl Theodor Bridge) You can see one of the main reasons why Heidelberg became the center of German Romanticism from the Old Bridge: the ruins of Heidelberg Castle.

Town Hall (Rathaus) During our tour of the old town on the market square lined with street cafés and the historic town hall, you will learn, among other things, why a statue of Hercules adorns the fountain in the centre, why the Heilig-Geist-Kirche is immortalized in the shape of a pretzel and why the church has two entrances available, which are directly next to each other.
