Itinerary
1
Basilica de la Sagrada Familia Today I'll accompany you through the Sagrada Familia, which is Barcelona's most famous monument! You are in front of the unfinished masterpiece by the man who is perhaps the greatest architect of the 20th century, Antoni Gaudí. This temple dedicated to the Holy Family was supposed to be just one of many parish churches that was part of the city's planned growth. Just think that at the time of its foundation, it was even outside the territory of the municipality.
2
La Rambla Today I'll accompany you through the Rambla in Barcelona. La Rambla is one of the world's most crowded and festive streets! Celebrated in many novels, works of art, and big and small screen movies, the Rambla fully sums up the spirit of this lively town, and taking a walk along this avenue that runs about one kilometer to the northwest and cuts through the old town is more or less mandatory.
3
Barceloneta Today I 'll accompany you through La Barceloneta, which is one of the quaintest and most fascinating neighborhoods of Barcelona. Barceloneta, or "little Barcelona", was built in the 1700s to accommodate the homeless people living in the nearby La Ribera district. In fact, many houses were demolished to build the Ciutadela, the military fortress King Philip V of Bourbon had commissioned, which was then demolished in the mid 1800s and replaced by the splendid park where the 1888 Universal Exposition was held.
4
Montjuic Today I'll accompany you through the Hill of Montjuïc, one of the most spectacular places in Barcelona. 173 metres in altitude, this hill overlooking the harbor and old town is the preferred retreat of locals in search of tranquility, and tourists who like you come to see its many attractions. The term Montjuïc comes from the expression "Mount of the Jews" in remembrance of an ancient Jewish cemetery, which you can still visit.
