Cape Town - The Mother City (Table Mountain)

Table Mountain Our guide transfers us to the foot of Table Mountain where we catch the cable car up to the top of South Africas' most well known landmark. With it being 1083m above sea level, it offers views over the entire city bowl and much more. We spent some time on top being on the lookout for the vast array of fauna and flora, birdlife and so on. The cable car offers a 360-degree view of the mountain and her surroundings with its rotating floor.

Hout Bay Hout Bay gets its name from the Dutch word “Houtbaai”, which means “Wood Bay”. The name comes from the dense forests that used to cover the area. We have the option to stop here and catch a boat ride to Duiker Island which is home to around 5000 Cape Fur seals.

Boulders Beach Penguin Colony We pass through the historic naval town of Simonstown which is home to the South African Navy and make our way to the infamous Boulders beach which is home to around 3000 African Penguins. It gets its name from the granite boulders that shelter the beach.

Cape of Good Hope The Cape of Good Hope was originally named the Cape of Storms by Portuguese explorer Bartholomew Dias in 1488 But it was renamed due to the great optimism it brought because of the opening of the sea route to India and the east. In 2004 it was named one of the six plant kingdoms in the world. It is rich in diversity with around 250 bird species various mammals, reptiles, insects and over 1100 different plant species. After lunch, we go on a moderate hike to the most south-westerly point of the African continent.

Robben Island Museum Robben Island is an island off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa, that was used as a prison for nearly 400 years. It was used as a World War Two military base, a 19th century hospital, and a leper colony. It is most famous for the unfair incarceration of freedom fighters such as Steve Biko and Nelson Mandela during the apartheid regime. Today we have the option to go and visit the island by boat and see the cell in which Mandela and others where held, and the museum dedicated to his life.

Our day Starts with a morning game drive that lasts for about 3 hours to try find more wildlife with the help of our ranger. After our game drive, we have a picnic in a secluded spot near the river, where we enjoy a basket of delicious foods and wine while admiring the views of the river and the mountains and listening to the sounds of nature. In the late afternoon, we have a spa treatment at the Fijnebos Spa, which is a custom-built facility that offers a range of revitalizing African-themed treatments and signature oils.

De Rust is a gateway to the majestic Meiringspoort, a gorge that cuts through the Swartberg Mountains and reveals the wonders of nature. We take a drive along the winding road that crosses the river 25 times, and marvel at the towering cliffs, the cascading waterfalls, and the ancient rock formations.

Bloukrans Bridge The Bloukrans Bridge is a spectacular and famous bridge that spans the Bloukrans River in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is part of the N2 highway that runs along the Garden Route, a scenic route along the southern coast of South Africa. The bridge is 451 meters long and 216 meters high, making it the highest single span concrete arch bridge in the world. The Bloukrans Bridge is also a popular destination for thrill-seekers, as it is the site of the world’s highest commercial bungee jump. The bungee jump is operated by Face Adrenalin, a company that has been running the jump since 1997. The jump is 216 meters high and lasts for about 7 minutes.
