Itinerary
1
Colossi of Memnon
Little remains of Amenhotep's once-impressive memorial temple. Yet, the two magnificent sculptures of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, placed to protect the old gateway, remain in place some 3,400 years later. Today, visitors can visit the Nile's banks, right across from Luxor, and marvel at the massive man-made sculptures. Visitors can also see two smaller statues of the Pharaoh's wife, Tiy, and mother, Mutemwia, in addition to these stunning twin monuments. Visitors can also get a close-up view of the sandstone panel carvings depicting figures of the Nile god Hapy. Although though most of the Colossi have been lost to weather and time, visitors can still get a feeling of the awe this place once had.
Duration: 30 minutes
2
Karnak Open Air Museum
This Luxor landmark features stunning statues, columns, and the greatest site of worship ever built—all just a stone's throw from downtown traffic. The construction of Karnak Temple took almost 1,000 years, as seen by the rich art and architecture of this Egyptian temple.
Duration: 2 hours

Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari
As one of the great burial monuments of the ancient world, the enormous Temple of Hatshepsut (near Deir el-Bahari) rivals the Pyramids. It rises on three massive terraces joined by ramps into the steep cliff face that shelters the Valley of the Kings on the opposite side, each level defined by a colonnade of harsh, mainly unadorned square pillars. Its namesake was one of ancient Egypt's rare female pharaohs, who dubbed her monument "Splendor of Splendors" not unjustly. However, majority of the structure was built by earlier rulers, beginning with Mentuhotep II about 2050 BC. Many sphinxes and other statues have since vanished, giving the edifice an even more monolithic, and features well-preserved wall reliefs and hieroglyphics, some in brilliant colors.
Duration: 60 minutes
4
Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings is an archaeological treasure trove, with dozens of tombs packed with art and hieroglyphics. See King Tutankhamun's tomb, the most famous landmark in the valley, before touring the temples of Ramses II's sons, Amenhotep III, and others to marvel at the centuries-old art and antiquities.
