Sintra National Palace
Initially used as a Moorish governor's residence, King Afonso Henriques used it as his own residence after conquering Sintra and Lisbon in the mid-12th century.
The blend of Gothic, Manueline, Moorish, and Mudéjar styles in the present palace is mainly the result of building campaigns during different centuries.
It’s one of the most iconic landmarks in Sintra, with the two imponent chimneys from the kitchen being able to be seen from distances far away. This is the main palace located in the historical center that you can opt to visit while you are in Sintra village.

Quinta da Regaleira
Probably the most mysterious and intriguing monument of Sintra, this property consists of a romantic palace and chapel with Neo-Manueline architecture and a luxurious park that features lakes, grottoes, wells, fountains, and a vast array of exquisite constructions.
Known as "The Palace of Monteiro the Millionaire", based on the nickname of its best-known former owner, António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, the estate has a full set of enigmatic buildings with a constant presence of symbols related to alchemy, Masonry, the Knights Templar, and the Rosicrucians.

Azenhas do Mar

Praia das Macas
The “apples” beach, allegedly named from the rotten fruits falling down from farms nearby to the Colares stream, ending near the ocean at the sandy beach.

Praia Grande
With a suggestive name, this is a large sandy beach where regularly surf and bodyboard competitions are hosted.
Here you can find one of the biggest saltwater pools in Europe with over 100 meters in length.
In the southern part, dinosaur fossils can be found on the Beach's cliff with an easily identifiable sequence of eleven dinosaur footsteps.

Almocageme
A colorful little town, close to the ocean, which name has an Arabic origin, possibly meaning “the mosque” although there are no testimonies of one having been around.
Still holding the tradition of a weekly farmers market, has its main local festivities honoring Nossa Senhora da Graça after the first Sunday of October and they last eight days.

Centro Historico de Cascais
