Kericho Tea Plantations Depart Nairobi early in the morning for a 9 days luo cultural safari through Great Rift Valley with a stopover at the view point to have a glance at Mt Longonot and the breathe taking escarpment to reach Kericho tea hotel arriving in time for lunch. After lunch, you will be escorted to the Tea Plantations of Kericho. Kericho is a Tea country which has put Kenya to be the world third largest Tea producer after India and Sri Lanka. There are beautiful rolling hills carpeted in neat, bright green tea bushes as far as you can see. Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Kericho – Kisumu – Kit Mikayi

Kisumu After breakfast, depart from Kericho via Kisumu city to reach Kenya’s most dramatic archaeological sites, a vast granite rock tower called Kit Mikayi. The legendary story behind Kit Mikayi means the first wife in Luo Tribe. The site since time immemorial has been a worship place and is usually being used by the Legion Maria sect and you can see the remains of lit up candles in several colors inside the cave. Return to Kisumu for dinner and overnight stay.

Kisumu - Kendu Bay Simbi

Kendu Bay After breakfast, leave the campsite and drive to Simbi Nyaima Lake. Legend has it that there once existed a community on the site. The village, however, disappeared in a violent storm when residents refused to shelter and feed an old woman who sought refuge there, creating a large depression that formed Lake Simbi Nyaima. Mythical as it is, geologists say it is a crater lake formed about six centuries ago as a result of earthquakes accompanied by volcanic eruptions. Lake Simbi Nyaima is a seasonal home of migrating flamingos. Simbi Nyaima in the local Luo language means he village that sank. It is actually a crater lake in which the community attaches great importance because of the legendary story surrounding it. Visit and listen to the heart rending story of the woman who visited this village looking for shelter and food. We will be entertained by the local luo traditional dancers for two days. Maasai Mara National Reserve Masai Mara is Kenya’s finest wildlife reserve. Elephant and buffalo abound in the riverine forests, while out on the grasslands Impala and Thompson’s gazelle can be seen together with their attendant predators including lion, cheetah, hyena and jackal. The Mara is the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem and plays host to the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra during the months of July to October. In addition, lesser known species such as topi, hartebeest, waterbuck eland and many small mammals create a kaleidoscopic picture. Between game drives, visit to the Masai “Manyatta” (village) to learn their culture. The Masai are a fiercely proud tribe who maintain their nomadic way of life.
