Sacsayhuaman The festivity begins in front of the Qoricancha, where the "Inca" performs an invocation to the Sun. Meanwhile, the spectators wait on the esplanade of Sacsayhuamán, where the procession immediately heads. We then proceed to the "sacrifice" of a llama and this is where the "Inca" invokes his father the Sun. The performance scenario is written in Quechua by Faustino Espinoza Navarro, who for many years has represented the Inca. The contestants take their role very seriously and the show is a riot of colour, music and dance. With more than sixty years of existence, the new Inti Raymi is now an integral part of Cusco life. A representation of this ceremony takes place every year from Qoricancha, then the Plaza de Armas and finally the Sacsayhuaman fortress. For the representation in Sacsayhuaman, a paid ticket is required at your own expense, which must be reserved at the time of registration.
