Mount Longonot National Park You will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning (6.00am) and drive along the Great Rift Valley escarpment for about 2 hours before arriving at the gate to start the hike. The spectacular view of the mountain welcomes you for the hike. Longonot Mountain is a fascinating inactive volcano that overlooks the beautiful landscape of Lake Naivasha area in Kenya. Rising to 2700m above sea level (and also 750m above the nearby landscape). There are a number of spectacular view points as you drive from Nairobi with which you will stop. The entire mountain is a national park with which if you are lucky you can view some wildlife. The path up the mountain slope is pretty steep and can get slippery at some points. Hikers thus need to be reasonably fit to take part on this hike. Hiking on this mountain takes approximately 2 hours from the Park Gate to reach the rim of the crater rim and descent back to the gate. The hike going round the crater rim would mean another two hours, thus the total hike takes approximately 4 hours for the round trip. you will have your lunch at the park before proceeding with the hike. you will then walk back to the gate where you can opt to drive to Lake Naivasha for a sunset boat ride and viewing the hippos at additional charges. you will then be driven back to Nairobi en to your hotel.
