Cusco to Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes by train (Vistadome)

Sacred Valley of the Incas
At 7:30am your VSA mountain guide and our driver will pick up you from your hotel. The first stop of the day, about 45 minutes into the trip, will be at Chincero to learn about Inca traditional weaving and coloring practices. After a warm cup of coca tea, we explore their shopping areas before heading to our next location of Moray. In Moray, we have about 30 to 45minutes to enjoy the views and learn about the reason for this odd shaped landscape. The Incas were agricultural masterminds! After Moray, we take a short drive to Maras, a salt mine that has been in use for over 500 years. Here, we explore the area for about 30 – 45minutes before making our way back to the van to transport us to Ollantaytambo, the Inca Citadel.
At the Inca Citadel, we learn about the Inca building techniques and methods of transporting massive rocks that weighed tons. Once we finish the tour of the citadel, we break for a late lunch before boarding the train that will take you to Aguas Calientes and finally your hotel.
*Please keep in mind to buy snacks as we will break for a late lunch. Unless you’d like to have lunch before Ollantaytambo – which we can definitely do as well!

Sunrise over Machu Picchu (train Vistadome) to Ollantaytambo to Cusco

Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu
Early wake up call at 4:30am to ready and grab breakfast by 5am. After a quick meal, we make our way to the bus line to wait our turn up to Machu Picchu. 20min after we board we arrive to the entrance of One of the Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu where we begin our 2hr private guided tour for sunrise. The moment we’ve all been waiting for! After the tour you have solo free time to explore until 11:30am before making the bus line near the entrance gate to make your way back to Aguas Calientes. Our guide will be at Gringo Bills hotel at 12:30pm to transfer you to the train station for you to board the afternoon train. After a 1hr and 45 minute train ride along the beautiful and impressive roaring Urubamba river and dense amazon jungle, we arrive to Ollantaytambo. At which point, you transfer will be waiting for you to take you back to your hotel in Cusco. Arriving by 6pm.

Humantay Lake Tour (Buffet Lunch)

At 4:30am your VSA mountain guide and our driver will pick up you from your hotel. The first stop of the day will be at Mollepata to have breakfast to fuel up on energy. After a light breakfast, we’ll continue our drive up to Soraypampa at 3920m.a.s.l. Here you will have the opportunity to get to know the Sky Camp which is located in front of the majestic snowy Salkantay and Humantay. After a brief rest we will prepare ourselves to start the trek upwards until we reach the highest point of the trail, on our way crossing wonderful landscapes surrounded by a complex of mountains. You will surely be impressed with the panoramic view of seeing the turquoise lake at 4200 masl. 13779 (ft) close to an astounding glacier. Get ready to take tons of photos!
After we enjoy photos and possible glacial dip, we will return to where our personnel will be waiting for us with lunch. Our transport will be waiting for us to return to Cusco by 5pm approximately.

Rainbow Mountain + Red Valley (Buffet Lunch) [Optional: Alternative Hike 1hr. easy hike]

Route to Rainbow Mountain! Your VSA mountain guide will pick you up at your hotel between the hours of 2:15am and 2:30am, for a 3 hour trip via private van to the start of the trail. Upong arriving, you will be served local Peruvian breakfast prepared by our local chef to get your energy up for our our day ahead!
Our day will consist of a 2.5 hour hike and is a distance of 6 kilometers (3.7 miles). roughout your journey you will pass through a vibrant green valley with the snow capped peak of Ausangate towering in the distance. You will see hundreds of roaming alpaca, and have the chance to truly see how Quechua people live. As you get closer to the Rainbow Mountain you will begin to see the rst signs of the colored minerals that formed the painted hills. Your guide will explain what makes up the existence of the Rainbow Mountain and how it was formed, and nally with one last push you will hike up to a vantage point that gives you a 360 degree view of the beautiful landscape that makes up the sacred land.
We will have snacks on top and take relaxing break to soak up the vistas, where you can enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. At this time you can also enjoy some coca tea that the locals prepare for visitors. A er about an hour you will embark for your hike back to the trailhead (1.5 hours), where you will have a gourmet lunch prepared by our chef in a traditional mud-house and depart back to Cusco. Arriving in Cusco around 4:30pm.
