Lincoln Memorial Lincoln Memorial + Vietnam Veterans Memorial (40 mins) Lincoln Memorial Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865, just as the Civil War was ending. By March of 1867, Congress incorporated the Lincoln Monument Association to build a memorial to the honor the 16th president. Learn all about the main features of the Lincoln Memorial, visit the statue, murals, and inscriptions and more. Vietnam Veterans Memorial Located north of the Lincoln Memorial near the intersection of 22nd St. The memorial includes the names of over 58,000 servicemen and women who gave their lives in service in the Vietnam Conflict. Since its dedication in 1982, visitors have brought offerings to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to honor and remember those who served in the Vietnam War.
