Fatehpur Sikri About one hour from Agra, stop to see Fatehpur Sikri, a World Heritage Site that has been described as a 'perfectly preserved ghost town.' Featuring a number of elegant buildings, the fortified city was built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in the late 16th century, then was abandoned after only 14 years.

Agra Fort After the Taj Mahal, visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Agra Fort. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 AD, this huge fort is made of red sandstone. The maze of the courtyards, mosques, and private chambers of the fort echo the story of the Mughal Empire.
