Kochi (Cochin) Cochin, India - Houseboat tour with Chinese fishing nets This tour includes a 7 hour cruise on a traditional houseboat through the backwaters of Alleppey. In addition to seeing how the locals live in the Kerala region you are served a traditional Kerala-style lunch during the cruise. After meeting your guide in Cochin you drive to Alleppey (Alappuzha) which is widely known as the "Venice of the East." Upon arrival you board a traditional houseboat which has been converted to a deluxe longboat with a marvelous blending of old and innovative styles. You explore the wide network of rivers, lakes, canals and lagoons which are referred to as "backwaters". During the cruise you have the golden opportunity to taste a Kerala-style lunch which includes delicious local fish dishes, rice and vegetables.
