Hi, my name is Julia; I am an art historian and also one of the official guide at the Tate Modern. I previously worked as a Collection Research Assistant at the Tate and I am now hosting one of the most successful Art Experiences in London.
It is not uncommon to feel both intrigued and confused by a piece of contemporary art. Allow me to guide you through the galleries of Tate Modern on a curious inquiry into what we see and hopefully, during the 2 hours that we spend together, you will acquire the skills of looking, seeing and talking about art.
At Tate Modern, we will look at some fabulous art from a fresh angle and try to experience it on a more personal level without any preconceived ideas. Ask questions! Get excited! Let's talk about art in a way where no answer is too big, or too small, or too right, or too wrong. All ages are welcome, no specific knowledge of art is required.

Tate Modern
It is not uncommon to feel both intrigued and confused by a piece of contemporary art. Allow me to guide you through the galleries of Tate Modern on a curious inquiry into what we see, and hopefully, during the 2 hours that we spend together, you will acquire the skills of looking, seeing and talking about art. I would like to encourage you to trust your own eyes and instincts and think of art in front of you in a more personal way.
How did abstract art come about? Does the gender of the artists matter? What happened to sculpture in the 20th century? Is photography art? Who decided what is art and what isn’t and can art change the world? Do we have to like what we see in order to understand it and vice-versa? We will talk in-depth about all of these questions.
No prior art knowledge is required, everyone is welcome. Great for solo travellers, couples, families, groups of any kind, teams and team-building exercises.
Duration: 2 hours
