Itinerary
1
Lempuyang Temple
Lempuyang Temple, locally referred to as Pura Lempuyang Luhur, is one of Bali’s oldest and most highly regarded temples, on par with Besakih (aka the ‘mother temple’ of Bali). It is also believed to predate the majority of Hindu temples on the island. Definitely a highlight on any travel itinerary for the fit and adventurous, the main temple lies at 1,175m above sea level, up on the peak of the namesake Mount Lempuyang in East Bali.
Duration: 60 minutes
2
Maha Gangga Valley
A tourist destination which offers you tons of unique and beautiful instagrammable spots, such as mountains background, bamboo bridge, blooming flowers, and many more.
Duration: 60 minutes
3
Tirta Gangga
The Tirta Gangga royal water garden is a favourite retreat in the regency of Karangasem, east Bali. It was built in 1946 during the reign of the late raja of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem (1887 - 1966). Tirta Gangga saw a series of restorations following the destructive hot showers of volcanic ash from the 1963 Mount Agung eruption.
Duration: 30 minutes
4
Pantai Pasir Putih
Pasir Putih, also known as White Sand Beach or Virgin Beach, is a remote, off-the-beaten-path beach that rewards the most adventurous of road trippers. It’s located on the East Coast of Bali, near to the village of Candidasa, and with its pristine soft white sands that dramatically contrast to its volcanic black sand neighbours, it seriously stands out. When you see the “white sand beach” sign, follow the dirt track until you reach the carpark. You’ll spot the line up of local seafood BBQ stalls (perfect for a sea view lunch) and the calm, clear waters that make White Sand Beach a lovely spot for swimmers, too.
Duration: 1.5 hours
5
Tenganan Ancient Village
Tenganan Village in East Bali is one of the Bali Aga (original Balinese) communities in Bali and it is famous for its well-preserved village layout and the ongoing survival of its traditional crafts. The village is only an 8-minute drive from the main resort hub of Candidasa, East Bali. It comprises two sub-villages: Dauh Tukad (loosely, “west of the river”) and Pegringsingan. Pegringsingan is best known for its traditional gringsing tie-dyed ‘double ikat’ cloth. The annual Perang Pandan war dance, featuring friendly duels among village males, is definitely worth seeing if your visit coincides with this event.
