Kanheri Caves is open 6 days a week. Only Closed on Monday.
Private Vehicle is not allowed in National Park as it is under the control of the Forest Department. So we have to park our private vehicles at the Gate of Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
From the Gate, we have to take Public Bus or Public Van to go up to Kanheri caves.

The Kanheri Caves are a group of caves and single rock-cut monuments cut into a massive basalt outcrop in the forests of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, on the island of Salsette in the western outskirts of Mumbai, India.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park
Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a significant wildlife reserve which impresses visitors with its diverse flora and fauna. It was formed in 1969 by merging different forest reserves with the Borivali National Park, which was 20.26 sq km in area. The geographical expanse of the national park thus formed was 104 sq km.

The Mandapeshwar Caves is an 8th Century rock-cut shrine dedicated to Shiva located near Mount Poinsur in Borivali, a suburb of Mumbai in Maharashtra, India. The caves were originally Buddhist viharas. These 6th century caves are located in a corner of Borivali- an otherwise northern suburb of Mumbai
