Mara River
Before breakfast and after lunch, you'll go on two game drives today.
Southwest Kenya's 1510km2 Masai Mara game reserve follows the Mara and Talek rivers' looping meanders. One look at its typical open savannah and amazing wildlife explains its appeal. Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impalas, hartebeests, and wildebeest can be seen throughout the vast Masai Mara Park. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos are abundant. Lions are often seen resting after a big meal or hunting on the plains. Leopards and cheetahs are rare but widespread.
After crossing the mara and talek rivers, where East Africa crocodiles have strong jaws, millions of wildebeest migrate north from the Serengeti in July and August to find greener grass. In October, they return south to start a new life cycle.
The rest of the evening at the lodge on a full board basis.
