Hanoi – Ha Giang – Yen Minh (L, D)

Hanoi
We will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi and start our journey. You will notice the landscape changing as we travel north, before stopping in Tuyen Quang for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch you can sit back and continue enjoying the amazing scenery, before arriving in Yen Minh around 17:00 at which time you’ll have free time to explore this charming Dzao village as well as the twin mountains of Tam Son. Dinner in the homestay will consist of some local specialties before you settle in for an overnight stay with your Dzao host family.

Yen Minh
Yen Minh lays between Quan Ba and Dong Van, on the south-western edge of the Dong Van Plateau. Thus it makes for a natural stopping point once you’ve travelled through Heaven’s Gate on the way to Dong Van proper.

Dinh Vua Meo
After stopping at the immigration office to purchase the mandatory travel permit we set out into Ha Giang proper. We make a stop along the way at the H’mong Palace, a beautiful structure constructed by the French and Chinese, leading to an interesting fusion of styles.

Ma Pi Leng Pass
We then travel to Meo Vac Valley across Ma Pi Leng Pass, which perches on the very edge of a mountain range and offers some breath-taking views over the Nho Que River. You then descend into the valley, arriving in Ha Giang Town at around 18:00 for dinner and an overnight stay in a Tay homestay.

Meo Vac
As you return to Hanoi, we will take you on the less trafficked route back to the capital, following a snaking a river and going from one amazing mountain pass to the next. You are likely to get a lot of attention from the locals here whenever we stop, as they rarely see foreign travellers. Eventually we stop in Duong Lam Village for lunch and some exploration of the hundreds of ancient houses located here before finishing our journey and arriving in Hanoi around sunset.
